New project being launched soon. May 30th – June 1st, I participated with a group of talented developers in the Hack4Change Nashville hackathon. This was a weekend long event where web developers of all sorts were tasked to create web apps from scratch featuring the new data sets released by the city. Our group partnered with a teacher who had an idea that revolved around the historical landmark dataset. Our plan was to gamify a scavenger hunt app where students would be incentivized to travel around Nashville and learn about all the historic locations. We won the hackathon for our idea but were not able to complete the full app over the weekend. My classmates (Richmond Watkins, and Nathan Hood) and I have continued working on the project and will be launching the prototype soon with hosting assistance from the city of Nashville.  Nathan and Richmond have done the majority of the work on the NodeJS backend and I have been tasked with developing the user interface and user experience along with the front-end styling and development.

Nashploration

I’ll give out more details once the project is launched but it is going to be a really cool piece!
